OKA Consulting and Custom Workshops

Consulting and Custom Workshops

OKA frequently brings both introductory and customized workshops to our client organizations. Many clients call on us for larger organization development projects that extend beyond a specific event. Our workshops and projects target two primary audiences:

Leaders and Teams - Our customized assessments and workshops target common areas of concern in today's work environment: change, leadership, team dynamics, communication, and conflict.

Training and Organization Development Practitioners – We offer subject matter expertise and professional development options for those responsible for training, employee development, and organization development.

Consulting Workshops and Services

Here's a summary of past services we have provided to clients:

  • Introductory self-awareness, leadership and team development workshops, using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Assessment, the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI), Reversal Theory, or a range of other tools and theories.
  • Advanced workshops covering leadership, conflict management, communication, teambuilding, group dynamics and other topics.
  • Strategic planning in both single workshop and full-scale project formats.
  • Curriculum development for both classroom and online training programs.
  • Organizational assessments, including social climate surveys.
  • Workgroup and focus group facilitation.
  • Instrument qualification training for intact client groups.

The OKA Approach

Three bedrock principles drive OKA's design and delivery of customized workshops and consulting projects.

OKA ClassParticipant-Focused – There is no “one right way” to communicate, resolve conflict, or lead change. While many consultants present a cookbook approach to these efforts, we believe lasting success comes when these topics are framed from client’s perspective, personality preferences, and style. To that end, our work stresses self-awareness and self-management as central tools, incorporating individual and team assessments into classes and projects. This provides data and insights needed for lasting change – driven from within.

Theory-Based, Experientially-Learned – OKA's models and instruments are rooted in well-researched and validated theories. This provides a stable launching platform for each class or consulting engagement – resulting in immediately applicable feedback. With this stable base, we quickly move to experiential learning and action-based methods – we don't rely on slide-heavy presentations or reports. Instead, we ask people to learn and change by doing, engaging in real-time interactive activities.

Action-Driven – The more content can be immediately applied to a person’s work, the more it will be retained and carried forward. OKA is committed to incorporating action planning into each class and project, allowing each participant and client to proceed with a clear set of steps to apply new knowledge “back at the shop.” In many cases, participants and diverse stakeholders at OKA events maintain connections long after the day is over – strong ties forged by a shared commitment to putting new tools to work.
